Too Much to be Understood Vase

This piece reflects a figure who carries an inner richness, yet is perceived only on the surface by those around her. The figure has the body of a fish, swimming just beneath the surface but never rising above it. Each time she looks upward, she meets an invisible, impenetrable barrier.

She does not hide what belongs to her. The emerald necklace she wears, the ornate golden headpiece she carries, all reflect her internal worth and quiet brilliance. But to the eyes around her, this shine is only decorative. Its meaning is never truly seen.

Surrounding her are faces some human, some animal. None of them attempt to understand. They simply observe. Some are silent, some are judging, some are indifferent. They all watch her, but none reach her truth.

The golden form near the end of her tail serves as a reminder of how attention is often drawn to what shines the most, even when that shine carries no real weight. To appear valuable is not the same as being understood.

This work tells the story of a woman caught between her inner depth and the outer world’s shallow gaze. It belongs to a world where what is visible replaces what is meaningful, and what longs to be expressed remains unheard.
