After the Circus Vase
Within a circle of light a banquet table stretches across the stage. A panda, an elephant and a monkey in garments resembling those of humans lift their glasses as if performing a theatre of desires that rule the world. Grapes glisten on a table adorned with golden motifs and red wine trembles on the edge of spilling from its glass. Together they whisper the laughter of a circus, the endless appetite of humankind and the blinding allure of opulence.
When the vase turns the noise disappears. At the heart of the black void remains only a solitary spotlight. Beneath that light lies a fallen mask, a symbol of the show’s ending, of roles quietly abandoned and of the bare truth left behind grandeur.
The exuberance of the front collides with the emptiness of the back. The work reveals the duality of human nature, the splendour seen on stage and the fragility hidden behind it. Each figure embodies human desires, passions and weaknesses, while the fallen mask leaves us with a single question: when the show is over, who remains?
This piece is not merely an object. It is a reflection on life’s grand theatre, pointing beyond masks, roles and splendour to the silent and naked face of truth.
